50 Things To Do On A Cold Weekend : Part 1
As the temperatures drop, going outside begins to feel like a chore. Wouldn’t it be ideal if we could just cosy up indoors and hibernate until the sun comes out again! While this idea is far from reality, our goal is to make winter days just a little easy on everyone. To our surprise, there’s much that can be done even in these freezing times. Dive into part one of our list of things to do and get inspired.
1. Bake a batch of cookies or a loaf of bread
Whether it's for the sake of the trad-wife trend or for the purpose of indulging in the festive flavours, get your oven gloves on! Whip up a quick batch of cookies topped with your favourite sprinkles and enjoy with a hot cuppa.
2. Attend a West End theatre show
This one’s a good excuse to dress up and take over London. From unmissable classics like ‘MAMMA MIA!’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’ to trendy stories of ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’, there’s plenty happening at the West End theatres during the winter.
3. Host a hot chocolate tasting session
Want to know what’s better than a cup of hot chocolate on a winter’s day? An Apple Strudel-flavoured hot chocolate! Discover more such unbelievably-delicious flavours with your friends at home.
4. Read a book you’ve been meaning to start
Look beyond the mindless doom-scrolling and reach for the book sitting on your shelf. Cosy up and enjoy getting lost in the pages of the genre of your choice.
5. Set up a spa day date
Had a hard week? Book a spa. Need a pick-me-up? Book a spa. You don’t really need a reason to pamper yourselves with a day at the spa where you can enjoy a relaxing dip in the pool and detox in the sauna.
6. Build a puzzle or try a new board game
Get your game face on and enjoy a competitive round or two of a themed board game. Choose from the latest new games to learn new tricks and tips.
7. Organise your photos into albums or create a scrapbook
If you wish to make more of the photos from all your travels and special occasions, start building a physical album or scrapbook. Make it a coffee table book to ignite exciting conversations when hosting.
8. Start a knitting or jewellery making project
For those with a creative knack and a ball of yarn, start knitting a simple pattern. Alternatively, get your hands on CAST’s personalised jewellery making kit where you can create beautiful pieces in wax that the company will transform into gold, silver or platinum for you.
9. Start a travel blog
Start an online blog to record all your travelling adventures. You don’t have to be a writing wizard, write as you would in your journal.
10. Clean your house
Weekends call for a cleaning session. Dust the shelves and prepare your house and yourselves for the week ahead.
11. Really clean your house
You probably don’t want to, but the inside of your oven and the dust on the skirting boards isn’t going to clean itself.
12. Get a diploma in floristry
You heard that right! You can literally become a qualified florist in 15 hours. From basics to design principles, start learning to elevate your floral arrangement game.
13. Binge watch a series on your list
There’s no better time to binge watch a series that’s been on your list for a while than on a weekend. Settle in, click and enjoy.
14. Declutter and donate clothes or items you no longer use
Decluttering will leave you with a great sense of achievement and hopefully a tad bit more room in your wardrobes.
15. Build a blanket fort with your partner
This is one of the best ways to elevate your time at home with your partner. Tap into your 10-year-old self’s energy and drag that duvet to the ground. You can even bring in your favourite snacks and drinks to complete the dwelling.
16. Try a new cuisine
Forget your usual takeaway and let the exciting flavours of an undiscovered cuisine make dinnertime special. Pro tip: search for what’s trending on social media and keep an eye out for newly-launched restaurants to know about what’s new and happening in the world of dining.
17. Create a vision board for the upcoming year
Creating your vision board is something that shouldn’t be rushed. Take your time to visualise, plan and create your dream life for the year ahead. All you need is pens, paper and a sprinkle of inspiration.
18. Learn a new language
Some basic online lessons of a language you’ve been meaning to learn will do you good. You could even show off this newly-acquired skill during the week among colleagues and friends.
19. Cosy up for an indoor picnic
Transform your lounge into a comfy zone to snuggle up in a blanket with your favourite drinks and snacks.
20. Go to the gym or attend a yoga class
The key to successfully surviving the winter season is to keep moving. Whether you prefer a hardcore workout session at the gym or a relaxing goat yoga class, put on your game face and get your adrenaline pumping. You’ll surely come out feeling at the top of the world.
21. Host a virtual game night or quiz with friends
Plug in the consoles and bring out the board games for a fun-filled evening with your mates. Top this off with an order of pizza that’ll transform it into a legendary event. You can even head over to your nearest immersive experience venue for an exciting experience.
22. Start journaling good thoughts
If you’ve had a stressful or busy week, journaling always helps to reflect and revive. Write down about all the positive things that happened to help yourself focus on what’s important.
23. Learn a new recipe from a virtual class
Whether you’ve got the knife skills of a chef or someone who has never stepped into the kitchen, online cooking sessions are for you. You’ll get to learn and practice this important life skill without any eyes on you.
24. Listen to a new podcast series
Why not start a new podcast in your preferred genre and do your chores on the go! This will make the boring to-do things feel a lot easier.
25. Have a wine or cheese tasting evening at home
Feeling fancy? Bring out the cheese board to create the most elaborate spread filled with three or four kinds of cheese, breads, crackers and cured meats. Pair it with some vino and indulge away!
